Our Story

People say that when you hit your 30s, it’s common to dive into new hobbies and passions - and that’s exactly what I did! I’m Chook, and my journey with hot sauce started right in my own backyard. Growing my own chillies led me down the path of fermentation, experimenting with flavours and chasing the perfect blend. The thrill of curiosity and creating something new kept me hooked. I’ve always been driven to produce a product that wasn’t just satisfying for me but, would bring a spark of joy to others too.

And so, Chooks Hot Sauce was born!

So how did I end up starting a hot sauce brand? It all kicked off with my first batch of three hot sauces, (chilli’s grown from seed) which I shared with family and friends. One of them became a crowd favourite - everyone kept asking for more! That’s when I reached out to my high school mate, Tom, the founder of FairFeed and a true hot sauce expert. Tom gave it his stamp of approval, asked a few questions, and then challenged me to find the exact chilli I’d used.

Months passed, and after endless searching with no luck, I came back to Tom with alternative Chilli options. It wouldn’t cut it, so he gave me some simple but solid advice, start again so I did. A couple of years later, I came back with something completely new - the hot sauce we recently launched, MiteyBite!

With expert help and a refined recipe, I’m diving all-in, ready to give the hot sauce game a crack! My vision is big - I want to create hot sauces that are uniquely Aussie, full of flavour, truly authentic and iconic. We’re just getting started, but the drive to grow is real.
